21st Annual School of the Soldier
For the past 20 years, the Milice has sponsored "L'ecole de soldat" (The School of the Soldier). Currently held the Last Full weekend in April. The purpose is to help us become better re-enactors, and to better understand the people and lifestyle of the 18th century. Many experts in the field of French colonial history have visited and given informative talks. Past guests have included Carl Ekberg, Rene' Chartrand, Nicholas Westbrook, Andre Gousse, Steve Disille, and Bob Bearor.
This event is open to the public ( visitors are encouraged ) and free of charge!

CAHOKIA IL. The Milice de Ste. Famille and Fort du Chartres announces the 20th Annual L’ecole du Soldat (School Of the Soldier), an Illinois Country Event, to be held Saturday and Sunday April 28th and 29th 2007 At Historic Fort du Chartres, Prairie Du Roucher, IL.
This year’s event will include Seminars of interest to Men And Women,Potluck Dinner, and evening entertainment. There is no camping fee, water and some wood available. Attendees and requested to bring a dish to Saturday potluck Key Note Speaker will be Bob Bearor Author of several books on the French leadership during the French and Indian War period Other Speakers this Year will linclude Kathleen Kannik author of several Sewing Books and speakers on Astronomy, Trade Silver and Blacksmithing.
All interested in learning about the Illinois country during French and Indian Wars times are welcome.
Cost is Free.
